Pre-Valentine's Day Events

A pre-Valentine’s Day brunch for children will be served on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Toloache 82, 166 East 82nd Street, with a $15 three-course menu with choices including scrambled eggs in a tortilla, banana French toast and do-it-yourself quesadillas. There will also be Valentine’s Day arts and crafts and face painting. The regular brunch menu (main courses, $12 to $19) will be available for adults. Reservations: (212) 861-4505.

Flights of three chocolates with three different wines will be served for tasting on Saturday from 3 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. at Brooklyn Oenology Winery, 209 Wythe Avenue (North Third Street); $12 a flight or $30 for three. Information: (718) 599-1259.

Chocolates and hot chocolate from Scharffen Berger will be given as free samples and also be sold to take home on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. outdoors in the meatpacking district on the triangle between 14th Street, Hudson Street and Ninth Avenue.    

 If you miss the boat to romance on Tuesday, there will be a Slow Food oyster and chocolate dinner on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Ici, 246 DeKalb Avenue (Vanderbilt Avenue), Fort Greene, Brooklyn; $80 for members, $94.14 for nonmembers, with proceeds supporting Slow Food’s programs for schoolchildren in New York City:
     
The New Amsterdam Market in the South Street Seaport will have vendors selling Valentine’s Day gifts, including chocolates and baked goods, on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Thompson Warehouse, 213 Water Street (Fulton Street). There will also be a soda fountain with classics like egg creams and newfangled specialties like a quince and goat cheese ice cream float.
